Dixie Belle Sea Spray brings textural dimension to your furniture upcycling projects.
Created by the Dixie Belle Paint Company, this premium, all natural texture additive powder to create an authentic chippy, heavily weathered, coastal driftwood or old world faux finish. Formulated with real sea salt.
This fab product helps to disguise wood imperfections!
Mix directly with your Chalk mineral Paint (or Silk All in one paint). This will not change the pigmentation of the paint but will thicken it, allowing you to create smal;l grains to dramatic rocky crests using a stipple brush.
Perfect for furniture makeovers but also mixed media art.
How to create faux finishes:
- Coastal Chippy Look: Stipple a thick layer to form ocean eave peaks. Once tacky knock back. Ad a layer of a new colour and once dry, sand back high peaks
- Faux Stone & Cement Finish: Mix to a heavy consistency and apply with a putty knife or spatula.
- Raised Stencils: Create an extra thick blend. Lay stencil onto your project and scrape the mixture across with a trowel
How to use:
1. Mix to your taste above: start with adding 2 level scoops to your choice of a pot of 8oz Dixie Belle paint and stir to a batter like consistency. Add 1/2 scoop to make the texture thicker.
2. Stipple: use a chip brush and apply the paint up and down or is peaks across the project.
3. Once tacky: pass your brush over the surface to knock down sharp peaks and soften the effect.
4. Optional layering: once dry, apply a contrasting paint colour or glaze and leave to dry. Then sand back high spots to leave a two tone finish.
